The Red Lantern award is one given to the last finishing racer in the Alaskan Iditarod–a famous sled dog race. It is a symbol of perseverance and determination.
With their Alaskan heritage, Liam and Coda have taught their families that the race society engages in for competition, success and intelligence doesn’t give us the meaning and happiness we really want for ourselves and our families. Tapering off shows us that interest equals motivation and that we should always question the point of the race. By turning the idea of a race on its head, we find Liam and Coda have shown us what really matters – joy in hard-earned successes, love given deliberately means the most and being interested in our endeavors creates self-satisfaction. Thanks to these boys just being who they are, we know that life and love are never about finishing first.
When you’ve turned the race upside down, friends who understand and support you matter! DSNO is an organization that gives our boys and their families community and opportunities. From classes and camps to gatherings and sharing pertinent information, DSNO makes a difference in our lives. Thanks for all the support!
