THE POWER OF POSSIBLE: CONNECTION COURAGE, AND COMMUNITY
Down Syndrome Network Oregon (DSNO) presents The Power of Possible, an event that celebrates the limitless potential of individuals with Down syndrome. Grounded in DSNO’s mission to Embrace, Connect, Celebrate, this special gathering will bring people together through powerful stories, meaningful connections, and shared experiences that inform, inspire, and strengthen community. At the heart of the event are stories of courage, perseverance, and possibility.
Featured speakers include Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN® triathlon, and his father Nik Nikic. Together, they will share their extraordinary journey and the lessons behind their “1% Better” philosophy, demonstrating the impact of consistent growth, family support, and believing in what is possible.
Attendees will also hear from Karen Gaffney, accomplished athlete, advocate, and founder of the Karen Gaffney Foundation. A nationally recognized voice for Down syndrome awareness, inclusion, and Alzheimer’s research, Karen will share her personal journey and highlight the importance of lifelong support, education, and physical fitness.
The event will feature a Community Spotlight Panel showcasing local organizations that are expanding opportunities and creating meaningful pathways to inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Oregon.
Guests will have the opportunity to engage with speakers during a live Q&A session and connect with fellow attendees during a networking opportunity.
The Power of Possible inspires attendees to turn possibility into action, strengthening connections, expanding opportunities, and helping build communities where everyone belongs.
