THE POWER OF POSSIBLE: CONNECTION COURAGE, AND COMMUNITY

Down Syndrome Network Oregon (DSNO) presents The Power of Possible, an event celebrating the limitless potential of individuals with Down syndrome.

Rooted in DSNO’s mission to Embrace. Connect. Celebrate., the event will bring people together through storytelling, connection, and shared experiences designed to inform, inspire, and strengthen community.

At the heart of the event are stories of courage, perseverance, and possibility. Featured speakers include Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN® triathlon, and his father and mentor, Nik Nikic. Together, they will share their experiences of perseverance, resilience, and redefining limits while offering practical insights from their 1% Better philosophy—a reminder of the impact of consistent growth, family support, and community belief.

Attendees will also hear from Karen Gaffney, accomplished athlete, advocate, and founder of the Karen Gaffney Foundation. A leading voice for Down syndrome awareness, inclusion, and Alzheimer’s research, Gaffney will share her journey and highlight the importance of lifelong support, education, and physical fitness.

The event will also feature a Community Spotlight Panel highlighting local organizations that are creating meaningful opportunities for inclusion throughout the region.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session and connect during a social networking happy hour featuring light hors d’oeuvres.

Together, The Power of Possible invites attendees to expand their vision of what is possible and help build a future grounded in inclusion, support, and the strength of community.
